Seven Deadly Sins (Wrath)
For this project each student randomly drew one of the seven deadly sins out of a hat; I drew wrath. We were given free reign of medium and subject matter; the only requirement was that we adequately represented our sin. I decided to take a more abstract interpretation of wrath, basing the imagery off biblical seraphim and using three canvases to emulate a triptych one would find on an altar piece. The reason for the religious iconography was to play off the idea of “God’s righteous anger” being justified while wrath being considered a deadly sin. I used acrylic paints and a gloss medium for this piece.
